I Need To Let Off Some Steam, Mother Nature

I’m generally a positive person, but let me get this off my chest.

Snowpocalypse. Snowmageddon. The Great Bread Shortage of 2019. Whatever you want to to call it, Seattle is in the midst of if.

Speaking of bread, why is that the first section of the grocery store to become completely decimated whenever a zombie-apocalypse-type event is imminent? I mean, what’s wrong with apples? Or canned beans? Or potato chips? (Please, PLEASE don’t let all the potato chips be gone the next time I’m at the grocery store!)

And check out the baking isle. Shelves upon shelves of flour and yeast. Hmm…I wonder what those could be used for?

Mother Nature, I love you, I really do. But I’m getting a little tired of your crap. You’re beautiful and all with your soft, white dress and cowls of fluff around the limbs of trees. But it’s time to cut us some slack.

I think our furry and feathery friends might be getting a little tired of it as well.

I mean, when a thrush risks his life to hurtle himself through a window for the chance at a little warmth, you’ve gotta figure something’s up.

And when my little terrier/chihuahua's pee freezes mid-stream, come on, that’s just not right. And when he’s shivering more due to the temperature than he does for the trademarked “chihuahua shake,” you know it’s too cold.

Another thing, Mother Nature, I hope you’re getting a kick out of the way everyone is acting in this wintry wonderland. You know this is Seattle, right? Folks can barely drive properly in your persistent rain much less a deluge of snow.

If folks can’t drive in the snow, they should stay home, right? Unless it’s something extremely important. This afternoon, for instance, I had to go out to get potato chi…uh, I mean, for something extremely important.

I’ve also heard power is out in some areas. I’m used to fallen trees inconveniently blocking my driveway and breaking the roof of my wood shed, BUT, if you’re going to shut me up inside my house for days on end, I had better be able to binge watch all the seasons of the X-Files.

Just one more thing, Mother Nature. I’m wondering, are the kids going to remember their teachers when they finally get to return to school? Furthermore, will I still have possession of my sanity when that finally happens?
